Stardust Goes To The Zoo

Notes: I wrote this in third grade. Third grade! Wow..long time ago. It was an assignment - create a story based on some guidelines, then turn it in, have it corrected, and write it onto paper that have places to draw stuff, then illustrate the whole thing. This story ended up with badly traced horses from a Draw 50 book...
I've gone through it - the few typos there are are actual, real mistakes I made back then.:)

Once there was a unicorn named Stardust. She lived in a forest in San Diego. It was a nice spring day in June and Stardust was bored because she knew everything about the forest. "I know everything about the forest and there's nothing else to find out now," she said. Satrdust decided that she would leave the forest the next day to see what the world looked like outside of th forest. Stardust knew about the outside of the forest because the birds told her about it. The birds told her about the deer, the birds and the other animals that lived outside the forest and Stardust wanted to find out what the rest of San Diego was like.

Stardust had been wandering for two days near a park in San Diego after she left the forest. Stardust was near the south end of San Diego. It was the end of the day and Stardust was tired, so Stardust found a nice place to sleep and lay down. Then she went to sleep.

When Stardust woke up she wasn't where she had gone to sleep. She was in the San Diego Zoo! Stardust wondered how long she had slept. She knew that no matter how she got into the zoo, she didn't remember waking up when she was on her way to the zoo.

Stardust looked around her cage and saw another unicorn. Stardust asked the other unicorn it's name. The unicorn said her name was Snowflake. Stardust told Snowflake about the forest. Snowflake wanted to go to live with Stardust in the forest because she wanted to find out what the forest was like. Snowflake and Stardust tried to think of a way to escape from the zoo.

When the zoo-keeper came to give Stardust and Snowflake some hay to eat, he xame into the cage and left the door open while he was feeding them. Snowflake told Stardust that they could push past the zoo keeper to escape out of the open door of the cage. Then they did it.

When they got out of the cage, Stardust and Snowflake ran past the surprised people, past the guard and out of the gate that leads out of the zoo.

Then Stardust asked the birds that were in San Diego how to get back to the forest without getting lost. The birds told Stardust and Snowflake how to get back to the forest. Stardust and Snowflake got back to the forest safely and they said that they would never leave the forest again.
